Sept. 1978 -- James Warren's answer to the successful debut of Heavy Metal magazine, 1984 features adult-oriented (and oftentimes downright sleazy) stories and art. The name change to 1994 occurred with issue number eleven, supposedly so newsstand browsers don't confuse the magazine with George Orwell's famous novel.

Stories in this issue include: Squeezin's by Bill DuBay and Jose Ortiz; Whatever Happened to Idi Amin? by Bill DuBay and Esteban Maroto; In the Beginning...! by Bill DuBay and Alex Nino; Mutant World part three by Jan Strnad and Richard Corben (in color); Bring Me the Head of Omar Barsidian! by Bill DuBay, Jim Janes, and Rudy Nebres; The Strange Adventures of Doctor Jerkyll by Nebot; Scourge of all Disneyspace by Bill DuBay and Alfredo Alcala; Commfu by Alabaster Redzone (a.k.a. Jim Stenstrum) and Abel Laxamana; and The Harvest by Bill DuBay and Jose Ortiz. Cover art by Patrick Woodroffe.
